What is Skin Aging?
Skin aging is the process which reduce the ability to restore the normal function and structure of the skin. It is a complex biological process that affects various layers of the skin, thus affecting the function and appearance of the skin.
Two Agings Processes
- Intrinsic Aging: Occurs as a result of chronological aging and affects skin in the same pattern it affects all internal organs.
- Extrinsic Aging: The result of external factors and environmental influence (smoking, sleeping, nutritions, pollution, sun exposure)
Charateristics of Skin Agings
- Saaging skin
- Dyspigmentation
- Dry skin
- Fine wrinkles
- Loss of elasticity
What foods good for your skin?
- Copper: Involved in extracellular matrix, synthesis and stabilization of skin proteins, and angiogenesis.
- Zinc: Participates in the proliferation and differentiation of epidermal keratinocytes.
- Iron: Closely related to the activity of antioxidant enzymes in skin cells.
- Vitamin A: prevent skin aging by regulating the expression of genes and matrix metalloproteinases.
- Vitamin B: associated with skin inflammation and pigmentation.
- Vitamin C: involved in skin collagen synthesis & elimination of intracellular reactive oxygen species.
- Vitamin D: reduces skin DNA damage and inflammation.
- Vitamin E: Inhibiting lipid peroxidation.
What foods bad for your skin?
- Fat: associated with skin inflammation.
- Alcohol: change the skin permeability, destroy the barrier function of the skin, affect the skin lipid composition.
- Sugar: associated with skin thickness, advance glycation end products , and inflammation.
